CYBERPUNK 2077 RELEASE DATE, GAMEPLAY AND OTHER FEATURES
The most anticipated game of 2020 seems to be a myth at this point in time. CD Projekt’s next big open-world RPG game ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ is set to be released for PC, Play Station 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on September 17, 2020, after nearly a decade of interviews and announcements. A significant amount of gameplay and demo videos are already released but the fans always want more. The last demo was released at EC 2018 but we can expect another trailer soon as CD Projekt Red will be running an online event called Night City Wire on June 11. But in an recent update from the developers the ‘Night City Wire’ event is delayed to June 25th . The reason behind this is due to the protests that are currently happening worldwide and which is more important for everyone as said by the company in their recent tweet.
Those who are still not familiar with the game, Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world sci-fi role-playing game. It comes from the creators of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red. The theme of the game i set in Night City, a megalopolis of future obsessed with glamour, power and body modification. The main protagonist of the game is named “V”, a 23 year old mercenary outlaw who’s going after one-of-a-kind implant that will make him immortal. But as story goes, its not a fairy tale where everything goes correctly. The place where the game sets i.e. ‘Night City’ is a place that is described in the trailer as ‘the worst place to live in America’. The city has prevailing issues like sky-high rate of violence and majority of people living below the poverty line than anywhere else. But with high risk comes high reward, this term has become quite universal even in video game storylines. As after all these problems, people prefer to live here than any other place. Why? Because the city always has something to offer.
Sometimes catching upto nothing and sometimes may change your whole world around. But for a city and people living in it like this, these promises or dreams are often better be described as illusions or lies. Still people stuck by this rabbit hole for the chance, the opportunity of their lifetime to change everything big time, the energy and the hope keeps them going after it by staying in this rabbit hole, exploring the risks. The protagonist V described the Night City as ‘The City of Dreams’ and “itself” a ‘Big Dreamer’. But why did I write “itself” instead of something specific like ‘Himself’ or ‘Herself’? Does that mean the game will feature the ability to select the Gender of the protagonist and give player the independency of playing a Man or a Woman?
See here comes an unique and vital feature of the the game that is character customisation. The game comes with a tons of features, details and options for players to explore and try and customize their character as close to their imaginary ability. From Skin tones to hair to face and even the player has ability to customize their playable character’s ‘genitals’ as they want. Why did i quote that? Well this is something revolutionary in the gaming industry as far character customisation goes, well sort of. Was this something necessary? Well,Maybe. An unique little feature that will never hurt nobody to have. There’s also ‘No Gender’ feature in the game. Goes back to my previous statement as why did i write “itself” in quotation. It is because the game does not have the concept of ‘genders’, the player can’t play either as a man or as a woman. This is a bold feature initiated to give players a more free and open experience without limiting them to bound in any boundaries.
Apart from these, some possible activities that may be in the game as side content are Night club boxing/fighting, takeout missions, races? (all these are shown in the official trailer but are not confirmed. These should be treated as a mere speculation)
All these crazy, first time ever and exclusive content sounds amazing! When can we get it for ourselves? Well, about that. The game was first announced officially in May 2012. Following that came a teaser trailer released in Jan 2013 and in that teaser trailer they mentioned the possible release date. It was said ‘Coming: When it’s ready’, I mean sure, why not? But its been 7 years since then, they really be working hard with maximum effort I suppose. But still fans cant wait to get this piece of absolute graphical beauty with era defining concept and story for themselves and for them it was quite a blow in the dark. But their hope were enlighten by ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ s Official E3 2019 cinematic trailer that was released in June 2019. This event took up the internet by storm as the game featured ‘Keanu Reeves’ in it with Keanu Reeves presenting the game to the fans at E3 2019. I mean, who doesn’t love Keanu? Everybody does! CD Projekt Red sure does know how to properly do marketing these days. Although these made fans more hyped for the game than ever before, it also made a promise to deliver the game in an official launch in April 16th 2020 for platforms Xbox One, PS4 and PC. But as of writing this article i.e. 4th June 2020, we still don’t have the game officially released. The game’s official release date was later delayed for 17th September 2020.
The Internet, after the recent delay news, started making speculations like the game may actually be released by the year it is named after, i.e 2077. Obviously its not true (for now!) and we can’t blame them as for how long the wait has currently been. Let’s wait and see for ourselves!
Now that we’re done with the game’s background and release date the next thing that should come to your mind must be “Can my PC Run it?”
Here is another sector of these topic that is very much uncertain. No remote idea was and is still suggested by the developers of what type of hardware specifications or software specification should we expect to run this game leaving player’s expectations in a mystery of whether they will even be able to play their most anticipated game, that they have waited for so long, on their existing setup.
