ASSASSIN’S CREED VALHALLA
It has been undoubtedly one of the biggest franchise in the gaming industry and Ubisoft has finally come up with its new title for the game i.e. “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla”. Ubisoft released the Cinematic trailer on 30th April 2020 followed by a Gameplay Trailer on 7th May 2020.
Valhalla brings you in the midst of the 9th century AD England and Norwegian clash between the Vikings and then English tribal kingdoms. Wessex, Northumbria, East Anglia, and Mercia were the four parts in which England was divided. It also includes a great part of Norway and the sea route between it and Britain. The two main groups that can be seen in this game are the Vikings and the four larger kingdoms of then consisting of England.
The main protagonist of this story is Eivor, a strong fearless man of Norwegian background who will likely be the main assassin. The Vikings are said to be a very violent and ruthless group of people. we can see in the trailer that Eivor does not always fall in those categories, as he was seen to be merciful towards women and children, at the same time leading the Vikings against the native troops of then Britain for the means of conquest. For the first time ever the staple of the Assassin’s Creed franchise the Eagle, which represents a loyal companion to the protagonist is seen to be replaced by a Raven in Valhalla. The player will also have the option to play as a female protagonist (who will share the same name ‘Eivor’) as stated by the game developers.
KING ALFRED THE GREAT
King Alfred was the reigning ruler of Wessex (871 to 886 AD). The portrayal of King Alfred is as a ‘great’ and ‘kind’ king in the pages of history however history is often written by the victors so we may have a chance to see his character from the perspective of the Vikings. Chances are he will be portrayed as a Templar.
These two are the only characters that have been confirmed as of the time of writing.
In addition, Norse mythology will surely play a big part in the story. In the trailer, it is shown that Vikings were worshiping Odin, the god of wisdom, death, war, etc., and is even seen in the battlefield which symbolizes his importance to the Vikings.
The game will feature a vast map area which will include England and Norway. England will be divided into several major cities and tons of towns and Norway will be the home country of our protagonist Eivor and as featured in previous installments we can expect some surprise areas to explore as well.
The game will feature advanced RPG mechanics similar to what we have seen in previous Assassin’s Creed titles like skill trees and inventory management, which will allow you to shape the growth of your character. There will surely be dialogue selection which will impact both political and social outcomes which will influence the story and the world around Eivor.
WEAPONS AND COMBAT SYSTEM
The game will feature dual wielding and throwing axes, which were seen prominently in the trailer. This will surely bring some variety to the player’s armory along with weapons like shields, swords, and daggers used at that time and of course, the trademark of the Assassin’s Creed series the hidden blades makes a cut with a twist!
We don’t know much about the combat system as of now but Raids and Naval Battles will be a prominent feature in this game and the enemy AI will feature a number of combat tactics that will surely provide the player with new and challenging experience each time.
Just like its predecessors, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will feature a vast and beautiful open world with a heavy emphasis on exploration which will, in turn, be very rewarding and rich in historical experience for the players. Landmarks like Stonehenge will make a prominent appearance in the game. After a long time in the Assassin’s Creed series, base building and settlement development will play a vital role in the progression of the game. Alongside it, we can expect a ton of side quests, collectibles, and side actives like hunting, fishing, drinking games, and much more.
We can create and customize our own characters to share online and fight alongside our friends through our journey of Norway and Britain.
The game as of now looks stellar and graphically mesmerizing. The game’s creative director is a series veteran, Ashraf Ismail who has previously worked on titles like Assassin’s Creed Origins and Black Flag which were both critically acclaimed and loved by the fans around the globe so, therefore, we can expect a lot from this game and cannot wait to get our hands on when it comes out this Holiday Season 2020.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is now available to pre-order on XBOX ONE, XBOX SERIES X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC (Epic Games Store and Uplay Store) and Google Stadia.
